Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the initial candidates under consideration to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday after the squad's 10-match winless start to the top-flight season.

And both candidates - both of who have historic associations to the club - are part of the names to be considered by the club ownership.

The manager is presently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the former Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the club directors as they begin the search of hiring a new head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a shock appointment considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United midfielder is out of work which means Wolves would not need to provide any buyout fee.
